Be smart and Be Prepared

By Callie Jones

This June and July, the Richmond Neighborhood Association hosts a series of four emergency preparedness workshops for the Richmond community thanks to a Small Neighborhood Grant from SE Uplift.

Each workshop is geared to help Richmond neighbors prepare for any type of emergency that may occur in Portland. Neighbors are invited to learn about simple steps that will help you prepare in a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere.

The workshops have a specific focus of emergency preparedness discussing issues pertaining to before, during and after an emergency event.

Speakers range from national and state organizations to local neighbors who have taken on aspects of preparedness in their own lives and communities.

The information is relevant to all – homeowners, renters, businesses and schools and will range from technical information to DIY methods of preparedness.

Handouts will be provided, tables of information for all to browse, and fun interruptions of raffles and door prizes will keep things interesting.

All workshops are free and venues are handicapped accessible. The atmosphere will be a celebratory one as we get informed together and children are welcome.
