First and foremost, Thank You Joe Annett of Bureau of Environmental Services. Joe and the contractors working on the division Streetscape did whatever magic was necessary for us to have a parade down the length of Division, put vendors on side streets, and close the huge hole at 27th and Clinton so the parade could disburse safely.  They were great and gracious both. Thank you also to all the private developers that courteously moved their construction fencing back, allowing pedestrians to walk up and down Division safely.

On the subject of the Streetscape, things will get worse before they get better. Division Street will be closed to all traffic from August 5 to September 3. There will be no parking in the closed areas, and detours will be posted. Thank you for cooperating during this last major disruption.

Businesses are moving into the renovated building at 30th and Division, including Brad Larsen and W Banjo Weymouth PsyD, the East Portland Psychology Practice, Bollywood Theatre, Juice Press, Imperial, XTend Barre, Michelle Ryan, Real Living real estate, Genie Lee Powell LMT, Image Wear Solutions, Munzing Engineering, Spoke, and Tim Crespi and Alec Wilson. A few spaces are still available on both floors.

The walk-in clinic at 42nd and Division opened late last month with a new landscape, a paved driveway from SE Division, and added parking. Anyone can walk in and get help. The clinic serves most of inner southeast.

Mike and Cathy Slyman of Clay’s Smokehouse Grill have opened The Screamin’ Viking Hot Wing Co. at 2928 SE Division, to the west of Clay’s. They offer Hot Wings, an unusual selection of beers, a great patio with a large TV to watch Timbers games on. They are open Wednesday to Sunday 4 pm – 9 pm.  Follow the bright yellow pavement.

Flower shop Flore is open for business on the ground floor at 30th and Division. XTend Barre has a soft opening in early September and invites interested people to help them fine tune their exercise options.  Sometime in late August or September The Richmond Bar will open at 35th in place of Match Box Lounge.

Joseph Annett from BES is available as long as streetscape construction continues. Contact him at 503.823.2934 or joseph.annett@portlandoregon.gov.

Street works, new construction, and redevelopment have made walking and driving rather adventurous at times. Please be careful when you’re in this area.
