Dance pioneer Simone Forti presents a rare workshop, lecture, and performance of News Animations, a form she first developed in the 1980s. All presentations are held at Ship Gallery Studio, 2512 SE Gladstone St, October 4-6.

Forti is one of the seminal figures in the group of innovative movement artists comprising the Judson Dance Theater of the 1960s and she has been dancing for more than 50 years.

In her Friday lecture (8 pm $10, reservations recommended), Forti will trace the trajectory of her work over the years. She studied with Anna Halprin, and has worked with John Cage, Yvonne Rainer, Steve Paxton, Terry Riley and Yoko Ono. She will talk about her current “logomotion” improvisational moving and speaking, teach a Body Mind World workshop Saturday and Sunday (10 am to 4 pm and spaces are full but there is a waiting list). and her performance is Sunday (7:30 pm, $20 tickets, advance tickets guarantee admission)
