The Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde are being staged in a live presentation October 11 through November 9 at Shaking The Tree Theatre, 1407 SE Stark St.

Wilde was born in Dublin in 1854 and his two sons inspired him to write fairy tales which fill two volumes, The Happy Prince and A House of Pomegranates. This new production has chosen six Wilde tales, The Fisherman and his Soul, The Happy Prince, The Selfish Giant, The Nightingale and the Rose, The Remarkable Rocket and The Birthday of the Infanta.Wilde has been quoted saying that the stories are “not for children, but for childlike people from eighteen to eighty”. The show is recommended for ages 9 and up.

The stories have been adapted by Karin Magaldi and are directed by Samantha Van Der Merwe and are presented Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm, Saturday afternoons at 2 pm, and Sunday afternoons at 5 pm..Tickets are $22, $18 for students and seniors. 503.235.0635/www.shaking-the-tree.com.
