TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY is the Christmas – New Year Concert by The Oregon Renaissance Band, directed by Philip and Gayle Neuman.
Music from England, Ireland, Transylvania, France, Germany, and pieces from ORB’s latest CD, “Now Make We Joye” will be featured with 12 musicians performing selections by Viadana, Goudimel, O’Carolan, Stadlmayr and others on violin, viola da gamba, lute, sackbutts, recorders, cornamusen, krummhorns, bagpipes, racketts, tartold, spinettino, tabor, and voices. The program includes a Transylvanian Magnificat by Joannes Caioni.
There are two performances Friday and Saturday, December 27 and 28 at Community Music Center, 3350 SE Francis beginning at 7:30 pm. $15 general, $12 students, seniors and EMGO members. Tickets available at the door. The Early Music Guild of Oregon’s website is www.emgo.org.
