John Reischman and the Jaybirds perform in concert Friday, March 14 for Portland FolkMusic Society, the second bluegrass concert of the season at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church, 2800 SE Harrison. Doors open at 7 pm for the 7:30 concert; an evening of original songs and instrumentals, old-time heritage, virtuosic bluegrass and sweet harmony singing.

Mandolinist Reischman has performed with the Tony Rice Unit and the Good Ol’ Persons; Jim Nunally, is lead guitarist, songwriter and a high, lonesome singer, Trisha Gagnon’s strong and distinctive voice,  the banjo of Nick Hornbuckle and Greg Spatz’ fiddle rounds out the quintet’s distinctive sound. thejaybirds.com

Tickets are available online through Seat Yourself at www.portlandfolkmusic.org for a small service fee, or at the door for $18 GA / $15 PFS members / $9 children 12-18 (Under 12 free).
