Because She Cares is a new art exhibit portraying twenty-four Oregon Non-Profits and their leaders. Portland artist Theresa Weil’s twenty-four cut-paper portraits are intriguing and informative. Her collages of textures, papers and patterns illuminates the multilayered work of these women and their organizations.

The show opens April 4 and runs throughout the month at the PCC’s Southeast Center new Student Commons Building, 2305 SE Division St. An artist reception is planned forThursday evening, April 10, at 6 pm.

”Just painting them would have been the obvious way to approach this project, but I thought the effort I put into these should be a greater reflection of the deep dedication of each of these women. I have spent many months, meticulously creating each one using only cut-paper. I thought of the interviews I had done with them, their openness, and how hard they work doing what they love. I didn’t want to take the easy way out in delivering that message.”
