Guitarist Jamie Stillway tours the world playing guitar. A Portland artist since the early aughts, she’ll take the stage at Café Artichoke’s intimate listening room debuting a new trio, Saturday, November 22 at 8 pm.

ajamielowerrez-3335-copy-2Stillway’s considerable fingerstyle chops nod respectfully toward earlier guitar voices while managing to invent original, melodic and percussive turns. Effortlessly moving through blues, baroque, classical and ragtime, her music is energizing, resonant, playful, and inspiring.

Her new trio includes bassist Arcellus Sykes, (recently chosen to play with “Portland’s Best New Band of 2014”, Ural Thomas and the Pain) and drummer Justin Burkhart, hailing from the high energy Sassparilla band.

Stillway has been endorsed by Stevens Custom Guitars of Munich and is an in-demand instructor at Healdsburg Guitar Festival, California Coast Music Camp, and Puget Sound Guitar Workshop. Her three albums of originals are melodic and moving guitar journeys. While her technique brings guitar legends to mind, she has her own musical voice and vision. A recent recording of solo guitar compositions, simply titled Jamie Stillway was recorded live at Portland’s Secret Society Studios and is an audio delight.

Café Artichoke is in the rear of Artichoke Music at 3130 SE Hawthorne Blvd. and seating is limited so reservations are advised. Tickets are $15 and all ages are welcome. 503.232.8845.  Audio from her recorded oeuvre can be found at jamiestillway.com.
