PROJECT INSPIRATION OF THE MONTH
Neighborhood Small Grants
We Are Public Housing, a project by the Center for Urban Pedagogy, aimed to improve the New York City Housing Authority’s accountability and increase resident participation through education and a strong call to action. They created a pamphlet for use during door-to-door outreach with information on how public housing residents could make their voices heard.
Want to make your own project a reality?

TRENDS IN LAND USE
December Edition
As Portland plans for its future, it envisions a city with more mixed use buildings in town centers and along busier streets. A current project is seeking to develop new codes that will promote this compact mixed use development while mitigating some of the challenges that arise with new, more intensive buildings, such as design compatibility, building massing, and livability impacts like noise.

SEEDS OF SE UPLIFT VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Reed’s Marisha Childs
A nine-year resident of the Reed neighborhood, Marisha Childs is currently serving as the chair of the Reed Neighborhood Association and recently helped organize a successful neighborhood clean-up in collaboration with the adjacent Creston-Kenilworth Neighborhood. We sat down with her this month to talk about her neighborhood, her desire to engage her neighbors, and her experiences as a neighborhood advocate.

SE UPLIFT BOARD MEETING
December Agenda
At this month’s SE Uplift Board meeting we will review action taken at the emergency executive committee meeting regarding the City’s proposed street fee, hear an update on the status of the Mt. Tabor Reservoirs, and consider a request for board action on the topic. The remainder of the meeting will be a holiday party to celebrate our wonderful board members and friends. SE Uplift board meetings are open to the public and interested community members are welcome to attend.
