The Young Professionals Company at Oregon’s Children Theatre present columbinus, a play directed by Lava Alapai, opening April 10 at the YP Studio Theater, 1939 NE Sandy Blvd.

Sparked by the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, columbinus combines fact and fiction and explores 21st century American adolescence. Drawn from interviews, police evidence and the diaries of the shooters, the production looks at this event 16 years later.

The Young Professionals Company selected this play to give teens a voice in a conversation often dominated by adults. The production features an original score composed by company member Tristan Comella.

columbinus is presented April 10 – 19, Thursdays through Saturdays at 7 pm. Matinees are Sundays at 1 and 5 pm. Tickets are $12 advance, $15 at the door. 503.228.9571 or www.octc.org
