(the Amplified Repertory Chamber Orchestra of Portland), presents classical orchestral and chamber music with a 21st century attitude Sunday, August 9 at Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison St. The show is Discordia, a concert of daring works by 20th and 21st century composers, including the U.S. Premiere of Lamento & Toccata for String Orchestra by 90 year old living Russian composer, Andrei Eshpai. Other music by Ernest Bloch, Henry Cowell, Dmitri Shostakovich, Arvo Pärt, and Henryk GĂłrecki – whose harpsichord concerto “makes death-metal seem like a lullaby…”
