Portland songwriters Matt Meighan and Anna Tivel team up to present a night of original songs from both their upcoming new recordings, Saturday, January 23 at Artichoke Music our local nonprofit music community center at 3130 SE Hawthorne Blvd.
Meighan is an indespensible and indefatigable musical force in Portland and his third recording, Unique, will be released this spring. He teaches weekly Songwriting as Truth-Telling workshops at Artichoke and co-founded and leads the Hidden River Songwriting Camp each July. He’s an activist, journalist, parent and an MFA card-carrying Disembodied Poet from Naropa University with tradition-steeped, thought-provoking songs that are personal, political and poignant. mattmeighan.com
Tivel is also releasing her third album this February, produced by Portland guitarist Austin Nevins. Raised among the ferns and the farmland of Northern Washington, she is one of six winners of last year’s Kerrville New Folk songwriting contest in Texas. She is a unique and stunningly clear voice in 21st century music and these days hails from Corvallis. annativel.com
