Speculative Drama’s production of Richard III is at a very intimate arts club, The Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven. Audiences are drawn into an web of perpetual war and paranoia with Richard himself the spider at its center.
Directed by Matt Pavik, the 10 person cast depicts how Richard III’s descent into villainy and madness affects everyone around him. The performance space is upclose and small and the audience members are thrust directly into the action. Immersive Shakespearean theatre, anyone?
In a world where adults who have never experienced life without a war on terror or war on drugs, the journey of a country trying to cope with the consequences of madmen who choose murder, blood, and chaos as acceptable means to further worldly ambitions is always relevant.
The show runs February 5 0- 27th at 7:30 pm. Seats are limited, reservations are encouraged. Tickets are $22, $10. thesteepandthornywaytoheaven.com
