Portland’s PROmotion Queen Lisa Lepine

Portland’s PROmotion Queen Lisa Lepine, stepped off the planet unexpectedly, and headed off to her next journey in the cosmos on July 5, surrounded by music friends and family singing her home.

She was an indefatigable advocate and tireless mentor of the Portland music community for more than 30 years. She loved music and magic and called herself The Music Godmother. She encouraged and guided so many musician’s careers that a list of all the names would be pages long.

Whether booking musicians for festivals and clubs, publicizing gigs, helping them define their strengths or lending her ear and expertise, Lisa’s inimitable humor, grace, wit, sound advice, charm and spirit wide as the sky, touched the lives of many. She even wrote about music for The Southeast Examiner many years ago.

She was Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer’s first manager and her phone number was forever immortalized by Carter’s unforgettably catchy song “236 6132”. (Listen at youtube.com/watch?v=QuCY-x4AYxc).

She had just completed surgery for Grade 3 Stage 2 Endometrioid Carcinoma, uterine cancer and was 58 years young. Portland’s musical community would be very different these days without her and she is already sorely missed.

Summing up her own life work with her email signature “Visionary counsel setting your muse in motion” Lisa Lepine reminded us all each day to: Dream. Do. Dazzle.
