South Tabor Sept 2016

By Ute Munger

The August meeting was surprisingly well attended considering the hellish heat that had to be endured. Possibly due to that, the Police officer and our guest speaker did not show.

All present at the meeting were urged to take a lawn sign to post for the upcoming annual Harvest Festival, September 18 from noon to 4 pm at the greenspace behind Trinity Fellowship at SE 68th and Clinton.

Sit on straw bales and listen to live music, taste continuously pressed fresh apple cider or eat BBQ’d corn on the cob – buttered or not. Bring your own veggies, seeds, plants or garden tools for an exchange or grab a few goodies which didn’t grow in your own garden this year.

For children we again have face painting, possibly corn husk doll making or other entertainment, as well as a ‘bouncy house’. Local vendors of arts and crafts are invited to put up their pop-ups or booths to show and sell their wares, as well as organizations with beneficial information to the neighborhood. Contact harvest@southtabor.org for information. All are invited and welcome to mingle with family and neighbors.

There is still time to take the survey and voice your wishes and opinions regarding TriMet’s Rapid Transit Project. Apparently the route has been already been decided on. It is from Gresham and Mt. Hood Community College all the way west on Division to SE 12th Ave. and on to downtown Portland. Get your curiosity appeased and fill out the survey at surveymonkey.com/r/xyjlc2y. The survey will be available and tallied until September 9.

The next Neighborhood meeting is scheduled for September 15 at 7 pm and the next Land Use committee meeting for September 20 at 7 pm. Both are held at generously offered space at Trinity Fellowship 2700 SE 67th. Entry from parking lot behind the building.
