PDX Jazz presents a September to Remember with the Stanley Cowell Trio (Jay Anderson on bass and Billy Drummond on drums) Friday, September 16 at The Old Church, SW 11th and Clay St. at 8 pm.
Cowell is a legendary post-bop jazz pianist from Toledo, Ohio who’s made records and toured since the 1960s. With classic recordings “Travelin’ Man” and “Equipoise”, he has performed with Max Roach, Miles Davis, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Charles Tolliver, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Gary Bartz, Roy Haynes and Art Pepper to name but a few. His newest record is No Illusions, coming out next month.
Author Robert Dietsche will conduct a Conversation with Cowell the same evening. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 day of show.
