South Tabor December 2016

By Sandra Hay Magdaleno

At our November STNA board meeting, the two primary topics of discussion were:  Land Use and Inclusion.

We were told that Portland is the most moved to and least moved from city in the US. A great resource for finding out about land use issues going on at the city level is PortlandOnline.gov. Specifically, you can go to the RICAP – Regulatory Improvement Code Amendment Program, an ongoing and technical – land use development program for important information.  Go to: portlandoregon.gov/bps/62880. Also, please, please, email the STNA Land Use Committee to get additional information, meeting dates, agenda etc. at:  Landuse@southtabor.org.

We will be having a Land Use and Sustainability Development meeting on Tuesday, January 17 at 7 pm at Trinity to develop a strategy for moving through the maze of changes and neighborhood needs surrounding land use and sustainability.

Inclusion and support for any group or person feeling and/or being marginalized was a primary discussion at our November meeting. A request for a letter of support was requested. The sustainability committee will work on a response regarding inclusion and safety focusing on concrete ways we can empower each other in unpredictable situations.   Please email:   Sustainability@southtabor.org to be included in and for more information regarding these issues.

REMEMBER- no committee or STNA board meetings in December.

Our next STNA board meeting takes place on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 7 pm.  We’ll be working on our 2017 budget, inclusion, land use and other issues that may come before us. See you there.

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and Happy New Year.
