The Fertile Ground Festival of New Work brings 100+ new works from Portland’s endless array of artists to stages and galleries all over Portland for 10 days, Thursday, January 24 to Sunday, February 3.
Now in its 5th year, and launched by Portland Area Theatre Alliance in 2009 Fertile Ground spans the spectrum of creative endeavor and seeds the next generation of creation through artist conversations, workshops, lunchtime readings and more.
Major theatre companies, dance companies and gallery spaces participate presenting new works with productions of theatre and dance, staged performance, readings and more throughout the Fest.

Single tickets for festival events are purchased directly at the performance spaces. All access Festival Passes are $50 and are available at the Fertile Ground website.
Close in southeast events include plays and art installations at Theatre Theatre, Milepost 5, Hipbone Studio, Bob White Theatre Warehouse, Shaking the Tree Studio and other venues.
Ripen is at Milepost 5 through February 23. Visitors are invited to view and interact with three and four-dimensional installation art inspired by the common theme of Ripen. The closing reception is First Friday, Feb 1, from 6 to 10 pm and all are invited. The exhibition evolves and ripens over the course of two months The initial opening features installations by nine artists from Milepost 5’s community. Other artists will be invited to participate and add works to act in dialogue with the original pieces.
