Neighborhood Notes Buckman October 2012

Need a bit of help choosing the next Mayor or City Commissioner? Want to be able to get your candidate questions answered directly and personally? Interested in how our new leaders would address issues on the Inner Eastside?

Then be our guest at the upcoming BCA Candidate Forum. The forum with candidates Charlie Hales, Jefferson Smith, Amanda Fritz and Mary Nolan will be held Thursday, October 11, 7 pm at the Multnomah County Board Room (new BCA Meeting space), 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd. All are welcome and there will be light refreshments. You can submit questions at the event, or email questions to us: buckmanboard@googlegroups.com. Also, be sure to “like” the Buckman Community Association Facebook page as you can post questions there and stay connected to BCA hot topics.

The recent sad and untimely death of preservationist and Venerable Properties owner, Art Demuro, has cast a shadow of concern over the Washington High School Development Project. BCA will be working with Art’s business partner Craig Kelly to get updates on where this project stands and will report on it at the October meeting.

Parking changes will be implemented in the Central Eastside soon. If you notice an influx and large increase of commuter parking on your street or by your business, please contact us. Residential permit procedures have been changed and we can help you get set up. Finally, we need help delivering our newsletter! If you think you can lend a hand, email us. It only takes an hour or so every 2 months and we would really appreciate your help.
