North Tabor Neighborhood Association will be holding its December board meeting on Wednesday, December 5, at Emilie House, 5520 NE Glisan.

North Tabor has elected its new Board members!  Our Board has doubled in size and we are excited about the upcoming year. Current board members:

Co-Chairs: Melissa Bockwinkel and Frank Spillers; Co-Vice Chairs: Moonrose Doherty and Timothy Kirkman; Secretary: Gail Morris; Treasurer: Candice Jordan; SEUL Representative: Zach Michaud; Melissa Bockwinkel, alternate; Land Use Chair: Nicole Davenport; Communications Chair: Cathy Riddell; at-large member: Alison Gavine.

Friends of Trees. This year’s deadline to sign up for a tree is December 10. Planting is scheduled for January 19, 2013. Planting strips at least 30 inches wide deserve a beautiful tree! If your planting strip is narrower then this, still contact us if you are interested in planting a tree as there may be an option for a concrete cut for your sidewalk. You can select what is best for your spot or choose from one of the staff-favorite trees. There are also Yard Trees available for $50 each for our neighborhood such as a fast-growing native Douglas Fir or the beautiful fall-colored native Bigleaf Maple. Signup for a tree at www.friendsoftrees.org or call 503.595.0212. Email: fot@northtabor.org.

Mural Project. The NTNA has been working with the City at the Southeast Precinct Building to be able to paint a neighborhood mural on their retaining wall at the corner of NE 47th Avenue and NE Burnside St. next summer. SpaceCraft Mission to Arts (spacecraftarts.org) has been chosen as the muralist for the project. The project is seeking historic photos and stories of the old neighborhood. The neighborhood gets another chance to meet the muralists at our January Board Meeting. Until then e-mail: northtabormuralproject@gmail.com with questions or idea submissions for this exciting community development project.

Communications Volunteers are needed to help with hand delivery of the North Tabor News. Hand delivery of the newsletter saves money and helps create connection in the community. If you are a high-school student looking for volunteer hours or a neighbor looking to meet new neighbors we could use your help.  Email: communications@northtabor.org.
