The Holiday Express is an annual holiday tradition operated by the all-volunteer Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation (ORHF). The three heritage locomotives owned by the City of Portland now have a permanent home across from Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). They are open  Thursday – Sunday, 1 pm – 5 pm with guides to tell you about the engines and a Gift Shop and it’s all ADA Accessible.

ORHF’s new Oregon Rail Heritage Center adds a significant transportation attraction to the OMSI district. The facility opened September 22, inaugurating the first time the locomotives were accessible to the public, except when on excursions.

The Holiday Express is Oregon’s only holiday train pulled by mainline steam engines. Since 2005 over 40,000 people have taken a ride on the Holiday Express.
