Cosy Sheridan at Artichoke

Cosy Sheridan hails from the Western Utah desert these days and she’s coming to Portland for a rare concert Sat. Jan. 26 at Cafe Artichoke, 3130 SE Hawthorne Blvd to shake things up and get folks thinking and smiling.. Sheridan, an unforgettable songwriting guitar-slinging performer with clever songs, twisted tales and metaphorical mythologies entertains, informs and warms a wintry evening. She may even bring her alter ego Chlamydia with her to sing right there in front of everyone.

Cosy Sheridan writes songs full of sinagable melodies complete with intricate and adept guitar picking. She manages to combine intelligent and humorous lyrics with a refreshing and offbeat outlook and the total performance package is a multidimensional amalgam full of sociopolitical, romantic and mythical perspectives.  This is a bright, impudent, impertinent being, smart with songs very relevant to these times. She performs in concert Saturday, January 26 at Artichoke’s Backgate Stage, 3130 SE Hawthorne Blvd. Doors at 7:30, show at 8 pm and tickets are $10. Alert! The space is small and sells out quickly so get there early.Sheridan has won accolades aplenty over the course of her 9 albums and many road miles of performance. Her alter ego, Chlamydia, often appears singing songs such as “Botox Tango” or “Multiply Pierced”. She’s taught songwriting at workshops and camps across the country and her one-woman-show The Pomegranate Seed, An Exploration of Appetite, Body-Image and Myth is a good listen for youngers and elders alike as she muses on 21st Century social expectations in these confusing times. She has played everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the Jerry Lewis Telethon and the Kerrville, Philadelphia and Telluride Folk Festivals. Her latest album is The Horse King.. The tune “Higher Financial Reform” ought to be required listening for the entire population. Listen to that and others and read more about Cosy at www.cosysheridan.com .
