Music from Mexico and Brazil

from Edna Vasquez and Rio con Brio is Portland Folk Music Society’s Third Friday Concert January 18, at Carvlin Hall next to St Phillip Neri Church, 2408 SE 16th Ave. on the #4 bus line.

Vasquez, performs music from Old Mexico and powerful originals while accompanying herself on vihuela with a guitarron and violin group. Rio Con Brio features Tim Connell playing mandolin and Mike Burdette on guitar playing choro, an early 20th century street music of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Alexandra Coutinho one of the Northwest’s premier singers of Portuguese Fado, will appear with Connell and Burdette.
