Buckman Community Association gathers for its monthly meeting Thursday, March 14, 7 pm in the Multnomah County Board Room, 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd.  The Board meets  from 6 pm. The agenda includes discussion about the building of zero-parking large scale apartments on transit streets including SE Hawthorne, Belmont, Morrison, Burnside and 12th Ave. Note however, the Portland Planning Commission meets to take public testimony on this issue and new proposed minor amendments prior on Tuesday, March 12, 12:30 pm. Testimony can be given in person or via email before the hearing psc@portlandoregon.gov . See www.portlandoregon.gov/bps/article/434428 to view proposed changes to the status quo.

These changes, by Matt Wickstrom and Joe Zehnder of the Planning and Sustainability Bureau, require review by the Planning Commission and City Council. Over 60 people attended the February BCA meeting as we discussed a proposed National Historic District in a portion of Buckman. Spokespersons both in support and opposition to the proposal presented views and the conversation was informed and robust.  Seeking further information?
