Psychedelic Appalachian Guitar

Daniel Bachman, 23-year-old guitarist born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, comes to town for two concerts of self-described, “psychedelic appalachian” guitar music at an in-store performance March 5 at 6 pm at Music Millennium, SE 32nd and Burnside, and then later at 9 pm at Valentine’s, 232 SW Ankeny St. in Old Town with Marisa Anderson opening.

Bachman’s new disc is Seven Pines, a vinyl LP on the Thompkins Square label. The album came out of a year living and working in the city of Philadelphia and is filled with sweet acoustic guitar sounds.

Bachman was featured last month on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series, and his guitar music is mesmerizing and contemplative. Hear a live session from December at www.folkadelphia.bandcamp.com and click on Bachman’s picture.

His label’s website is www.tompkinssquare.com .
