Richmond

Richmond Neighborhood Association held its monthly meeting on Feb. 11 at Waverly Heights Church, SE 33rd and Woodward St.   RNA meetings are held in the church basement; enter from the east-side door.  The RNA’s website is www.richmondpdx.org.

Nicole Blanchard from the Portland Bureau of Transportation spoke on the installation of traffic improvements at the intersection of 42nd and Division which she said are functioning as planned. PBOT will add advisory curb signage, a light pole with a regular street light at the crosswalk, as well as four more trees (among them Oregon White Oak and Black Tupelo) that will be planted in the next few weeks in the vicinity of the newly-installed stormwater facility. She suggested the RNA might think about adding a sign identifying the neighborhood.

Allen Field reported on the Landmark Saloon Good Neighbor Agreement, which the Board voted to sign. The GNA process is an effective process to bring all parties to the table to communicate and work together to problem-solve issues relating to bars, music venues, and businesses.

Ryan Durocher, neighborhood coordinator of the Richmond/Friends of Trees tree planting reported on Urban Forestry’s Tree Inventory taking place next summer. They need 30-40 volunteers to inventory neighborhood trees, and a neighborhood tree plan will be developed after the inventory is complete. If you are interested in helping with the tree inventory, contact Ryan Durocher,  ryandurocher@hotmail.com.

RNA received a grant from the Neighborhood Small Grant Program through Southeast Uplift for a Richmond Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Program, consisting of four separate workshops that will focus on different aspects of emergency preparedness. The workshops will consist of four topics; a home plan, the kit and what goes in it, getting your house prepared, and creating a neighborhood network. These events will begin this spring; dates TBA. We are looking for volunteers to help with the preparation of these events. If interested, contact Callie Jones at calliejoh13@yahoo.com.

The next RNA meeting will be Monday, March 11 at Waverly Heights Congregational Church (basement), 3300 SE Woodward St., 7-9 pm.
