Richmond Neighborhood Association held its monthly meeting on March 11 at Waverly Heights Church at SE 33rd and Woodward St.  RNA meetings are held in the church basement; enter from the east-side door.  The RNA’s website is www.richmondpdx.org.

Announcements were made regarding a pilot project to present welcome kits to the neighborhood. This will take place on April 3 at SE Uplift at 6:30 pm.

Friends of Community Gardens is sponsoring a movie event on Earth Day, April 22, at Bagdad Theater, showing Queen of the Sun.   August 17 is the annual free movie in Sewallcrest Park:  a Filmusik production of Planet of Dinosaurs with Blue Cranes providing the live music soundtrack. This event is funded entirely by grants, sponsorships and donations.  Help  this event remain an annual event. Donate at www.give2parks.org/movies.html for the “Sewallcrest (Richmond)” movie.

The owner and the architect of the gas station at 39th and Division St. presented their plans to put in a 7/11 store. RNA’s Land Use Chair, Doug Klotz, explained the notice procedures applicable to convenience stores were not followed, so they will have to come back before the RNA to re-present their project after submitting a Good Neighbor Plan.

Mark Desbrow of Green Light Development gave an update on his project, D-Street Village, which centers around the old Nature’s building at SE 30th and the two parking lots for the building. Changes to the buildings’ design and appearance were made as a result of neighborhood comments at the December meeting.

Aaron Jones and SERA Architects described their proposed 74-unit apartment building at 48th and Division, with no on.-site parking.  Plans for the building can be found on the RNA’s website

The next meeting will be Monday, April 8. UDG, the developer for the 37th & Division 81-unit apartment building will present its revised plans for a new permit following LUBA’s ruling in February voiding their permit. METRO Councilor Bob Stacey will also give presentation.
