Bridge for Blankets

To mark the Centennial of the Broadway Bridge, artist Tyler Mackie has initiated Bridge for Blankets, the largest yarn installation ever in Portland and Multnomah County.

This public artwork in the form of four 18’ x 21’ knit banners will be hung outside the draw spans on the North and South sides of the Broadway Bridge this August as a part of the PDX Bridge Festival.

After the Fest, the banners will be broken down into 42 – 6’x 6’ blankets and donated to local homeless shelters.

100% volunteer powered, the project is bringing people together in teams to construct giant knit banners, one 12” square at a time.

Find out how to contribute your knitted square or how to help the celebration. Contact Mackie at tyler.mackie@gmail.com or see pdxbridgefestival.org/festival/bridge-for-blankets .
