Board Elections Next Month: June 13th
What can be more interesting and satisfying than getting to know your neighbors and working with them on fun events, complex land-use problems, and improved safety and livability, all while learning how the City that we love functions? Service on the Buckman Community Association Board is an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge on how things work, for service, collegiality, and a place to foster and expand your own creative notions. Terms of service are two years and generally require one monthly meeting, as well involvement on a committee or action project of your choice. A number of Board positions will be open this year starting in July, and we hope you’ll consider joining us at the BCA. The election will be held on June 13th at our regular meeting space, the Multnomah County Building at 501 SE Hawthorne. Please consider a term of Board service! Contact buckmanboard@googlegroups.com for further information.
Buckman Picnic in the Park Lead Coordinator Found!
Buckman resident Jamie Vann will coordinate this year’s 4th Annual Buckman Picnic in the Park. Brandon Sanders will coordinate the food. The Picnic, scheduled for August 11th, 4-8pm at Colonel Summers Park, is a fun gathering for Buckman residents of all ages to come out and enjoy the park and our community. We encourage organizations to put up booths, and we’ll have an awesome bar-b-que, games and loads of fun! Volunteers will be needed! Jamie will need all the help you can give her, both in time at the event or leading up to it, and in cash donations, which are 100% tax deductible. In-kind donations are welcomed too! Donations can be mailed directly to Southeast Uplift at 3534 SE Main St., Portland, 97214, and made out to “SEUL: Buckman Picnic 2013” Email: jamievann@outlook.com and brandon@thesanders.us,
