Neighborhood Notes Montavilla Sept 13

Montavilla

By Joanna Beatty

It’s been a great summer in Montavilla and we thank everyone who participated in events and activities in the neighborhood.

Two roads in Montavilla, SE Division and NE Glisan, received “road diets” recently, narrowing traffic to one lane in each direction.  NE Glisan now has a center turn lane and full-time on-street parking along both sides of the street. A pedestrian island with rapid flash beacon at NE 78th and NE Glisan is currently in the works. As with any major traffic change, it will take time for drivers to adjust.  Please watch for new signage, yield to pedestrians and obey all posted speed limits when traveling through the neighborhood. Safety or speeding concerns should be reported by calling 503.823.SAFE.

Montavilla Neighborhood Association is actively soliciting neighbor feedback through an online survey. Visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/MontavillaNeighborhoodAssociationSurvey to have your opinions heard and to tell us how to reach you if you’d like to share your time or talent on projects.

Now that kids are heading back to school and summer vacations are behind us, we hope you’ll add MNA monthly meetings to your calendar.  Join us each second Monday at 7:30 pm at Montavilla United Methodist Church, 232 SE 80th Ave. Fall meetings will be held September 9, October 14, and November 11. Parking and childcare are free and plentiful.
