Ron Rogers and the Wailing Wind

The new CD from Ron Rogers and the Wailing Wind is familiar even on first listen. It’s not that the band sounds like anyone else, it’s more that they are so solid and having so much fun that their enthusiasm is contagious. The musicians’ individual pedigrees are impressive but the proof is in the groove and their spirited playing. A CD party is part of their monthly gig at the Landmark Saloon, Friday October 4. aRR-and-Wailing-Wind1There’s a new spirited CD in town full of bluesy, swampy, twangy country-rockin and tales of hard-living and imagination. Ron Rogers and the Wailing Wind have released a new collection of musical curios that even the cover picture reflects. Rogers’ tasty tunes are well-crafted, danceable, thoughtfully-written, and impeccably played with spirit and energy.

The Wailing Wind band is a solid quartet with Rogers handling the guitar and singing, Don Campbell on bass and harmonies, Chris Bond on drums and Dave Grafe on the sumptious pedal steel. Everyone in the band has been part of the local and national circuit for years with many accolades between them and an impressive list of recording and touring credits. These guys have simpatico!

The album’s tracks were recorded analog and it feels like a well-recorded live album. These are songs you’ll find in your mind hours after listening and surely a roadtrip soundtrack to get you to Salem and back.

The Wailing Wind celebrates the release of their self-titled CD with a rollicking early show Friday October 4 at The Landmark Saloon, 4847 SE Division St., from 6 to 8 pm and there is no cover.  Find them  on Facebook and Reverb Nation and get out and hear them live.
