Neighborhood Notes Montavilla Jan 2014

By Joanna Beatty

Happy New Year to our Montavilla neighbors! We are anticipating wonderful things in 2014 within our neighborhood and the city. If you haven’t yet checked our new website, we invite you to take a look and bookmark it for future reference: www.montavillapdx.org

We will add content, events, committee meeting dates and updates and news regularly in the upcoming year and hope it will become a one-stop Montavilla reference tool.

As a reminder, the Montavilla Neighborhood Association (MNA) meets monthly at Montavilla United Methodist Church, located at 232 SE 80th Ave., the second Monday of each month.  General meetings begin at 7:30 pm and your ideas and participation make each meeting valuable.

Free childcare and parking are always available. The MNA looks forward to connecting with you at a meeting, event, on a committee, or on the street in the New Year!

If you live or work in the Mt. Tabor area and are concerned about what’s happening in the neighborhood, become acquainted with the Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Association.

Among other things the MTNA provides the neighborhood with an effective communications link with local government officials which in turn helps shape what happens in the neighborhood

The MTNA meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 pm, in a downstairs conference room at the Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church, 5441 SE Belmont St. Land use issues and the fate of the Mt. Tabor Park reservoirs are frequent topics at the meetings.

You can see a list of MTNA board members, along with their responsibilities and links to their email addresses, by going to www.mttaborpdx.org/contact.html.

Our neighborhood is bounded by SE Division St. on the south, SE 76th Ave. on the east, Burnside St. on the north and, on the west, SE 49th Ave. (from Burnside to Hawthorne) and SE 50th Ave. (from Hawthorne to Division St.).
