Revival Drum Shop is dedicated to vintage and custom drums. The store, originally on NE Prescott St., was founded in 2009 by Jose Medeles, who has toured the world as drummer for The Breeders, Kim Deal, Ben Harper, Joey Ramone, and many others. He’s even the 1984 Lincoln Junior High School Breakdance Champion.
While touring, Medeles’ passion for vintage drums inspired him to open a space to share that interest with other musicians. Now the shop, equal parts store, museum and hangout for drummers, opens August 1 at 2040 SE Ankeny St. so the beat does indeed go on in inner SE. Welcome to the neighborhood Revival Drums!
Since its inception Revival has been an active part of Portland’s music community, working side by side with venues and hosting live shows on behalf of the Creative Music Guild for several years.
The move to SE Ankeny is a new chapter for the drum shop as it will be sharing space with like-minded artists. The store will become as much a part of Buckman and Kerns neighborhoods as they have been on NE Prescott.
