Montavilla August 14

By Joanna Beatty

Montavilla is gearing up to celebrate National Night Out (NNO) in our neighborhood.  Nationally, NNO strives to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. This is a great way to get to know your neighbors – to shake hands and share ideas. Join the Montavilla Neighborhood Association August 11 from 5 pm – dusk at the covered picnic area at Montavilla Park (NE Glisan at NE 82nd Ave.) for a National Night Out potluck.  Don’t forget to bring a side dish or dessert to share.

Looking for more fun for the remainder of the summer?  If you missed July’s summer concert series at Mt. Tabor, bring your family to enjoy live music and entertainment at Berrydale Park (SE 92nd and SE Taylor) each Thursday in August at 6:30 pm. The Montavilla Jazz Festival will be held August 16-17 at Post 5 Theater with an amazing line up of jazz performers. Tickets are sold on a sliding scale. Visit www.montavillajazzfest.com to learn more.

Thanks to feedback, ideas and learning from experiences, MNA will be actively working on improving its social media presence and in bulking up information and news on its website.  Interested in helping? If you have skills in social media, writing or are interested in sharing your ideas to help us move our goals forward, consider joining our Communications Committee. Email Joanna to learn more: Joanna@montavillapdx.org

Don’t forget to visit www.montavillapdx.org to learn about the latest news and events in our neighborhood. Join us each second Monday at 7:30 pm at Montavilla United Methodist Church, 232 SE 80th Ave. Parking and childcare are free and plentiful. No meeting in August, but don’t forget to join us at Montavilla Park for National Night Out on August 11.  We hope to see you at our next meeting on September 8.
