Siren Nation Festival

This year’s Siren Nation Festival presents nearly two weeks of music, theatre, comedy, visual art from more than 40 artists, an art and craft sale and free workshops. The event runs November 1 through 12 at various locations around town. For the complete schedule see sirenation.org.

This year’s musical line-up includes: Liz Vice, Meiko, Fault Lines, Swan Sovereign, Crushed Out, Luz Elena Mendoza, Mirah, Natasha Kmeto, Edna Vazquez, Lemolo, Melao de Cuba, The Cabin Project and The Jenny Finn Orchestra and there is no shortage of events associated with this year’s festival. The group is an arts organization showcasing and creating performance and exhibition opportunities for women throughout the year.

Although events are scheduled in all parts of town including Alberta Rose Theatre, Secret Society, The White Eagle and Mississippi Studios, here are performance highlights in SE venues:

• Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Meiko at Doug Fir Lounge. 9 pm. 21+over. $12 advance.

• Thursday, Nov. 6 – Natural Wonders is a group show of Pacific NW women artists at Albina Press, 5012 SE Hawthorne Blvd. 6 -9 pm. All Ages. Free.

• Wednesday, Nov. 12 – Mirah at The Doug Fir Lounge, 9 pm. 21+over. $12 advance / $15 door. www.dougfirlounge.com.
