One of the performances in SE is Woman on the Scarlet Beast, a  new drama written by SE author Caroline Miller about three generations of women. It’s presented at Post 5 Theatre, 1666 SE Lambert St. January 21 – February 8.

Dulce, the grandmother feels she has failed her daughter, Ruby, and dotes on granddaughter Jennifer. Ruby blames her mother for her life on the streets where she worked as a prostitute until she was crippled by an accident. Set in a time when the freedom of women was limited and based on a true story, the story takes us into Portland’s past.

Miller says: “I worked for 30 years on this play because the plight of these real women touched me and I wanted to honor their struggle; the struggle for love and forgiveness that touches us all of us at some point in our lives.”

• Another SE theatrical presentation at FG15 is The Wedding by Cassie Keet, January 24 and 25, the first public staging at Act Now Studio, 232 SE Oak St. #100. The play, directed by Jana Lee Hamblin, is set on the day of Mitch and Molly’s nuptials and the audience can expect anything but a wedding to take place…

See the complete schedule at fertilegroundpdx.org and purchase tickets there. Festival passes are $50 and allow admission to all participating FG events throughout the Fest. Single tickets for festival events are available through the various theatre companies and usually at the door day of show.
