Becoming Dr. Ruth is the one-woman show about Dr. Ruth Westheimer, the pioneering and entertaining radio and television sex therapist. Coming into this world as Karola Ruth Siegel, Westheimer’s journey began with her fleeing the Nazis in the Kindertransport, learning to be a scout and sniper, and then struggling as a single mother with two children.

She worked for Planned Parenthood and that experience prompted her to further her education in human sexuality. She has taught at Lehman College, Brooklyn College, Adelphi University, Columbia University and West Point, authored many books acted on TV, and, at 86, is still an avid Twitter user.

In Triangle Theatre’s new production, Wendy Westwelle portrays Dr. Ruth in performances at The Sanctuary at Sandy Plaza, 1785 NE Sandy Blvd. The show runs Thursday – Saturdays, February 5 through 28 with various times and matinees on Sundays and no late seating. Tickets start at $15. The Sunday February 15 matinee includes a talk-back with the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education.

Tickets and info: 503.239.5919 or www.trianglepro.org. Free parking is located to the west of the building, labeled “Resident Parking”.
