It’s a Weissman solo show filled with musical invention and stories from his 50+ years in the business. Weissman began making albums in the early sixties with The Journeymen, a trio that featured John Phillips (Mamas and Papas) and Scott McKenzie (“If You’re Going to San Francisco”).

The Ballad of Kirk Reeves, is Weissman’s moving tribute to the trumpeter who serenaded Portland each day on the Hawthorne Bridge dressed in a white coat and Mickey Mouse ears. Reeves entertained Portland-area motorists, pedestrians and cyclists for over a decade with music, magic tricks and a cart filled with gadgets and puppets.

Sunday, April 10, Weissman presents a workshop on the music business at the Musicians Union, at 323 N.20th Ave., free for members, and $10 to others. Publishing, maximizing your royalties and funds that ASCAP, BMI and SESAC all have for people who play their own music in public will be covered and the workshop will be especially useful for anyone who plays their own music in public.
