Cygnet Productions presents selections from literature around the theme of identity.  The once-in-a-blue moon event is scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at 7:30 pm at Tabor Bread, 5051 SE Hawthorne Blvd. Featuring Cygnet stalwarts and revered Portland veterans: Don Alder, John Morrison, Vana O’Brien and Luisa Sermol. Enjoy hilarious and touching entertaining readings, accompanied by Tabor Bread delectables. $12 suggested donation.

WILLEM OOREBEEK, An Exhibition at the Yale Union, 800 SE 10th Ave., through July 19. A Talk by Willem Oorebeek will be Friday, June 5, 6 pm. Admission is free. Dutch artist Willem Oorebeek studied at the Academy of Art in Rotterdam, was a lecturer at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, at De Ateliers in Amsterdam and the Hochschule der KĂĽnste in Hamburg. Oorebeek selects printed matter to manipulate and transpose into other media, typically utilizing techniques from the graphic arts to explore themes of repetition, reproduction, seriality, and order. His conceptual works, installations, and book projects have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Hours: Thursday—Sunday, 2 to 5 pm, and by appointment, 503.234.2210; free admission. Mile Post Five– Live Music in the Art Haus Chapel, June 5, First Fri-day from 7 pm until 10 pm in the Chapel. 850 NE 81st. Mak-ers’ Market –An arts and craft sale by 18 area mak-ers of fine arts and crafts will take place the same evening from 6 pm to 10 pm, in the Art Haus Commons.

OMSI Star Party—Summer Solstice Celebration, June 20–astronomers will celebrate the beginning of summer with a free Star Party! Join us at Rooster Rock State Park and L.L. Stub Stewart State Park starting at 9 pm weather permitting. From beginners to experts of all ages, here’s your opportunity to view the stars and other celestial objects up close and personal through telescope and binoculars. Viewing highlights include beautiful gathering of the moon with Jupiter and Venus in the west, and the famous Saturn.

Sing Portland! is led by Marion Van Namen, not only a singer and choir director, but also a pioneer, instrument maker, teacher, improviser, mom of twins, world traveller, cellist and entrepreneur.  All who ever sang, or ever wanted to sing with Sing Portland!  are invited to come celebrate Sing Portland!’s second birthday. The Amazing Bubble Man Louis Pearl has been thrilling audiences around the world for nearly 30 years with the art, magic, science and fun of bubbles. Grunewald Guild Traveling Art Exhibit, “What Sustains Us” at    Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, 2828 SE Stephens St. Come and contemplate the artists’ reflections with guided meditations provided by the artists and a quiet setting of rest and refreshment. Two public viewings and receptions with refreshments are scheduled:  Sunday, June 14, noon to 6 pm, with the monthly Celtic Evensong Service at 7 pm.  The second is Wednesday, June 24, noon to 8 pm.  If you have a group that would like to come another time, contact the church office at least one week in advance to schedule when we can have staff available:  503.236.2430 or office@chpcpdx.org. This is the last of the three Oregon’s 2015 host sites for the traveling art exhibit.
