Milagro Theatre presents their 7th La Luna Nueva, the festival of Hispanic arts and culture in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This year, the diversity of this region is illuminated with international and local artists in a line-up designed for kids and families. With music, storytelling and dance from First Nation artists, Yoruban dance, Japanese Taiko drumming, a Ghanian celebration of Obo Addy’s Okrapong, Ori Tahitian and and much more, the festival opens Thursday, September 17, closes September 26 and begins Milagro’s 32nd season.

Sept. 17, 7:30 pm with Sones Marineros, Por La Esperanza With Laura Rebolloso Y Ensamble Marinero – Sonera and songwriter Rebolloso performs with “La Leona” and jarana, traditional instruments of Son Jarocho. • Sat. Sept. 19, Obiniza – Freila Merencio and Oñican, 7:30 pm – Different expressions of the orishas – intercessory spirits connecting the mortal world to the highest powers of the Yoruba religion. • Sun. Sept. 20, Passionate Guitar with Alfredo Muro, 7:30 pm – Fiery, sensuous guitar playing from Peruvian classical guitarist Muro with music by Piazzolla, Moreno-Torroba, Celedonio Romero, Jobim and Muro’s originals. • Mon. Sept. 21, One Night In Frog Town (Una Noche En Villa Ranas) 6:30 pm – An award-winning all-ages show, part theatre, part dance following a saxophone-playing tadpole on his journey through blues, funk and soul. • Sat. Sept. 26, Bharatanatyam With Anjali School Of Dance, 6:30 pm – Students of the Anjali School of Dance present an evening of solo and group dances.
