The Birth of Betty Boop

Film archivist and historian Dennis Nyback continues his third Monday of the month screenings at the Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd. and September’s offering is The Birth of Betty Boop, Monday September 21 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $8 and $5 for members.

Betty Boop, a star in the early 1930s had her own line of tie-in products and a syndicated comic strip. In the 1960’s, rediscovered by a new generation, she became more popular than ever.

This program features ten of her first cartoon appearances and shows her cinematic evolution from dog to woman. She also appears as a cat and a singing fish at times.
