Tracy Grammer concert

Tracy Grammer returns to her Portland stomping grounds for a late summer concert, Saturday, September 5, at Alberta Rose Theatre, 3000 NE Alberta St.

Grammer lived in Portland for many years and performed as half of the “postmodern, mythic American folk” duo, with partner Dave Carter. She continues to present Carter’s musical along with her original songwriting.

Renowned for her springwater clear alto, her expressive violin and guitar playing, she is quite the storyteller with tales of the duo’s meeting, Carter’s quirks and her own misadventures and missteps.

As director of the Dave Carter Legacy Project (a project of Folk Alliance International), Grammer’s publishing company, Tracy Grammer Music, administers licenses for Carter’s song catalog.

Judy Collins and Willie Nelson have just recorded Carter’s tune “When I Go” for Collins’ new album, Strangers Again, to be released this month and that will bring his articulate songs to a whole new audience.

Tickets are $16 advance and $20 at the door. Doors open at 7 with the show at 8 pm. Minors are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian. 503.719.6055/albertarosetheatre.com
