MUSIC MILLENNIUM INSTORE MUSIC FOR OCTOBER  The West Coast’s oldest record store has live instore music often. A few highlights for this month: Sun 10/04, 5 pm Tribute to Bonnie Raitt;  Mon 10/5, 6 pm – Mister Milano; Tue 10/6, 7 pm – Deborah Martin. See musicmillennium.com.

REGIONAL ARTS & CULTURE COUNCIL (RACC) is accepting applications for Art of Leadership, a training program to prepare professionals to serve on arts and culture organizations boards. The six half-day workshop features interactive sessions and topical information on challenges facing arts organizations. Led by arts consultant George Thorn, the tuition is $800 per person with a limited number of partial scholarships available. Application deadline is October 26. Up to 40 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. It begins November 18 and goes through April. racc.org/artofleadership.

PORTLAND PEACE CHOIR welcomes all voices and is seeking to expand its membership. They meet Wednesdays, 7-9 pm at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church, 2800 SE Harrison St. All interested are invited to visit. There are no auditions and all skill levels are welcome. A no-pressure and accepting environment, exploring singing in a supportive community, Peace Choir performs at community events, a statewide concert featuring Oregon’s four peace choirs, and at its annual spring concert. JUNIE B. JONES: THE MUSICAL, based on the book series by Barbara Park, is presented October 24-November 22 by Oregon Children’s Theatre at Newmark Theatre, 1111 SW Broadway. It’s the first day of first grade and things have changed for Junie B. and she writes it all down in her “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal”. CAMERA SONGS: Black And White Images From A Colorful Life by Don Normark is title of the October exhibit at 12×16 gallery through November 1. There’s an Artists’ Reception, Sunday October 4, at 2 pm with a talk by Normark’s lifelong friend, George Johanson at 3 pm. SHAKING THE TREE THEATRE presents the final part of Sarah Ruhl’s Passion Play through October 24. The theatre is at 823 SE Grant St, and performances are Thursday – Sunday evenings at 7:30 pm. Ruhl’s triptych concerns a troupe of actors performing the Passion of the Christ during three different politically-charged times in history. THE DRUNKEN CITY by Adam Bock is Theatre Vertigo’s new show presented at The Shoebox Theater, 2110 SE 10th Ave. October 23 – November 21. It’s the wild story of a pivotal bar crawl with three twenty-something brides-to-be who find their lives spiralling out of control as one begins to question her future after a chance encounter with a jilted handsome stranger.
