Karen Russo and Mara Berendt Friedman are sisters from the same family and the featured artists in the exhibit. Teaching has been an important aspect of both artists’ lives, balancing the solitary passion of creating with the joy of sharing with community.

“Although we create separately and employ different mediums and materials, the essence of our work springs from the same source,” Friedman says. We share a devotion to the universal Mother and strive to synthesize a unique vision of Her compassionate and healing energy.

“Inspired by deep gratitude for our abundant planet, our work celebrates the exquisite forms of nature. Ultimately, we seek to offer a visual oasis that emanates harmony and hope. We both are drawn to the qualities of elegance and beauty, to harmony and the feminine form.”

The exhibit is open through January 17 and gallery hours are Tuesday thru Sunday, 10 am – 6 pm. 503.235.3607 or  see facebook.com/HarmonyOnHawthorne.
