First order of business was the police report by Officer Carole. PPB anticipates a cleanup and removal of the camp on 75th and Powell within the next few weeks. Generally squatter homes/camps are cleaned out after numerous citations are issued for trash, derelict vehicles, etc.
Please, please put identifying marks on your bikes, tools, etc. The police recover numerous stolen properties, but without serial numbers, they are unable to return the items. Note that “non-progress” calls are on a 6 hour wait due to the shortage in our police force. The police bureau expects to be hiring, training, and retraining 75 officers a year to keep up with those retiring or leaving.
We need your input and a couple people from the neighborhood to work with the “Atkinson Tabor Commons” (Former site of, “Café Au Play.”) group working on shaping how the property should be used going forward. Find on Facebook as well.

Learn about the history of this site (on the corner of SE Division & 57th Ave.) and provide SE Uplift’s Board with input on what you think the future goals, use, and function of Tabor Commons should be.

Calling all gardeners or ‘wanna be’ gardeners! Foster Powell Community Gardens meet the second Monday of each month and are calling on the community to get involved in shaping the garden’s future. They meet the 2nd Monday of each month, 8 pm at the Foster Burger King right after the Foster Powell Business meeting. Look for more information on the Facebook page.
Another great Harvest Fest was held last month, with music, entertainment, luscious fruits and vegetables, corn on the cob, face painting, crafts, apple cider and much more. See you next year.
