Sky in the Road comes to Artichoke Music

Sky in the Road is (l to r above) Rahmana Wiest, Daniel Rhiger, Olivia Duffy, Ben Rhiger, (and not pictured) Molly Lehrkind. The quintet’s original music is articulate, uplifiting and soul moving. Tightly-woven soaring vocal harmonies converge with instrumental melodies as American acoustic music meets Celtic and Eastern European sensibilities melding into an analogous heartfelt folk. They don’t seem to perform enough around their hometown these days but are celebrating the spring with a not to be missed concert.

The group presents their blend of “ethereal and rhythmic, eternal and temporal” compositions, Saturday, March 25 at 8 pm at Artichoke Music, 3130 SE Hawthorne Blvd. in a benefit for Artichoke, the SE Portland music institution that (in an all to familiar tale these days) recently lost its lease and has to move soon.

For this concert, Sky in the Road will be augmented with guitarist Maria Olaya, who teaches guitar and cajon and will perform a set of her originals alongside songs from Victor Jara and Silvio Rodriguez.

Tickets $15 and seating is limited so get there early. Doors open at 7:30 pm. Hear previews and read more at skyintheroad.com.
