South Tabor November 2018

South Tabor

By Tina Kimmey

At our October meeting we welcomed new neighbors, established neighbors, and a speaker from Representative Alissa Keny-Guyer’s office. One of our neighbors is a volunteer with Friends of Trees and spoke about the tree planting in South Tabor, Montavilla, and Mt. Tabor neighborhoods Saturday, November 3rd from noon – 4pm.  They are looking for volunteers to plant, volunteers with trucks, and drivers. Sign up to volunteer from their calendar at friendsoftrees.org. This planting will be hosted at Central Bible Church at 8815 NE Glisan St. Hope to see you Saturday!

The Land Use committee had a productive meeting focused on the SE Woodward corridor between 60th and 62nd. The pinch point on Woodward has been identified as  an important project by the Safe Routes to School team, but has not yet been funded. If you’re interested in looking for solutions to land use problems in our neighborhood come to our monthly meeting.

If you want to get involved but don’t know where to start, if you have an idea that you think would help make the neighborhood, city, state, or country better, take that first step and come to the South Tabor Neighborhood Association meetings. We have open seats on our board and open seats at our table. We are excited for new folks to join us and add their voices to the conversation. If you’re interested in becoming a board member contact president@southtabor.org.

Next meetings: Land Use meeting Tuesday, November 13th; General meeting Thursday, November 15th, all meetings run from 7pm-8:30pm and are held at Trinity Fellowship, 2700 SE 67th Ave, entry on the east from the parking lot. See southtabor.org for more information.
