Beare and Choban in concert at CMC

November 10, 2012 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Ken Beare, tenor, and Maria Choban, piano, present a unique voice and piano concert Saturday November 10, 8 pm at , 3350 SE Francis St. These performers are known for stretching the boundaries of musical expression and, in the words of Oregon Arts Watch, for “knocking the stuffiness out of classical music”.

The free one hour program consists of the world premiere of Five Secular Latin Melodies by Marek Harris (a piece inspired by Bertrand Russell’s essay, A Free Man’s Worship) Dichterliebe (A Poet’s Love) by Robert Schumann and Five Greek Songs by Maurice Ravel.

Beare (wintersjourney.com) has sung leading tenor roles in opera houses and concert venues throughout Europe. Choban (www.alitisa.com) has produced and released four CDs on her label, Alitisa and is one of the founders of the South West Music School in Beaverton.

Call 503.823.3177 for info. No need to drive to Community Music Center. Take #9 bus to SE 33rd and Powell and walk 2 blocks south to SE 33rd and Francis St.
