… will perform at ARTICHOKE MUSIC, 3130 SE Hawthorne Blvd.,
Saturday, June 30, at 7 pm
Two stellar Portland songwriters, LJ Booth and Chris Kokesh, will be joining forces to perform at the Artichoke Music Backgate Stage located at 3130 SE Hawthorne Blvd. Tickets are available for $15 at the door or by calling Artichoke Music at 503-232-8845.
Kokesh is perhaps best known as the fiddle player with the band Misty River that played in the Northwest for 15 years. Booth is a songwriter originally from Wisconsin who SING OUT! called “a master craftsman of incredibly profound songs.” Booth transplanted to the Rose City when he and Kokesh married in 2012, but later this summer the two will return to Wisconsin to make their home.
When they met at Texas’s Kerrville Folk Festival in 2010, Booth and Kokesh immediately felt an affinity for each other’s music. Sensing that the sum of their collective talents had a powerful potential, they began touring together in 2011. It’s the combination of their distinctive poetic voices, the vibrant palette of guitars and fiddle, and the sparkle of their harmony singing that makes for a memorable evening of story and song.
