July Performances at Artichoke Music

Artichoke Music, Portland’s beloved roots music institution at 2007 SE Powell Blvd., offers respite from the summer heat with a variety of cool concerts in its air-conditioned Café Artichoke performance space.
Café Artichoke offers live music at least four nights a week, with featured concerts on Saturday and Sunday, open mics on Thursday and a lively Friday Night Coffeehouse. Here are some highlights for July:

Three local powerhouse songwriters (Shane Brown, William Stafford and Adam Sweeney) will leave their rock combos at home opting instead for the classical timbres of some of Portland’s most gifted players.

The Wicked Okays and Alec Hutson

Boston-based experimental pop artist Alec Hutson will be joining forces with The Wicked Okays, a brand new indie folk-pop group out of Berklee College of Music, to create a night of music that’ll bring some East Coast flavor to the Portland stage.

Tex-Mexican groove and swing! The Houston/Louisiana band Tremoloco play a singular blend of Mexican and American roots music, delivering original songs in Spanish and English that draw on a promiscuously diverse array of musical traditions including Nashville twang and Louisiana bayou grooves, New Orleans R&B, Delta blues, rancheros, cumbias and Tex-Mex romps.
Rindy & Marv Ross

Rindy & Marv Ross are the singer/songwriter duo that founded Seafood Mama, Quarterflash, and The Trail Band. The Rosses received the “Legends” award from the Portland Music Association and are Oregon Music Hall of Fame inductees.
